WTB: 78-80 Aluminum Dash Insert
Hey guys, been away for a while taking care of business.
Kent and I are back working on the 78 project and making some great progress! I'm looking for a 78-80 aluminum dash insert piece. This is the aluminum piece that has the two areas cut out for the AC vents and the "Silverado" logo rests on it. I've been searching Ebay for the past six months for an NOS one. Have only seen two. One I was out of town when it ended and couldn't snag it and the other, recently, with an NOS dash bezel (that was the only one I've ever seen on Ebay...very rare!). So, who has some nice trim? Looking for a really nice piece. If you have a lead or one to sell, let me know. I have an aftermarket in place now and we'll probably mount the new dash later this week. Just really, really want to find a nice original piece. This is probably the most seen piece in the truck. Hook me up!

Have you checked LMC or Cheyenne Pick Up Parts? They are not the NOS, but I've seen a few of their inserts, and they look pretty good.

Hey John. Yes, I have one of the aftermarkets now. The "real ones" are tough to find!

Nope, the 81-up has a curve at the passenger side end.

IIRC, I have a very nice trim piece, but it's ONLY the insert. The plastic portion was broken so I pulled the insert off of it.

Re: WTB: 78-80 Aluminum Dash Insert
I called out a fabricator today to see about having a custom billet harness box cover (for the painless wiring) fabricated. I had the plastic aftermarket version and showed it to him to see if he could replicate it in billet.
Supposed to give me a call tomorrow with a quote. The aftermarket billet ones wouldn't be so bad if they didn't cover up the ac outlets on the dash.
