new to the forum

Hello all, I’ve been reading posts for awhile there are some talented people and great trucks here. I have been kicking the idea around for a while about building a early 70’s c10/20, I have a lot of questions but the first is a were to get a good shop manual (pdf).
My thoughts are to start by getting a frame and going from there, if someone has input about not starting with a whole truck, post away. I’ll be working out of a one car garage, and I don’t have a lot of space to tear a whole truck apart and rebuild it, so I was thinking that why not just work a step at a time any thought will be read and pondered.

Thanks every for looking.

Re: new to the forum

Well I may have found a possible candidate at my local junkyard, it will be available on the 16th the manager is working up a price and said to call him next thurs. He said the title stated that it was a 1960 but the hood does not have the eyebrows? Actually the hood and the frame are the best parts of the truck. The hood looks to be the original color of the truck the glass is good except the front window, the floor boards are shot, the hood hinges are in great shape, the bed is kind of bad, but this may work out if the price fits, I was only wanting the frame but he is making it sound like he was going to make me a great deal, he seems like a cool guy he just got back from duty in Hawaii, told me all about his wrangler that he had to sell over there and showed me a mid 70’s Wagoner he missed out on getting by 1 hour,
My other option is a 1970 k20 that a guy at work has been pulling parts off of, he wants under $400 for. So we shall see what happens in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks for looking.

I like the idea of building the 60 better, they're more unusual.

Welcome from Philly-

Welcome from Philly-
thanks guys, i did some research this morning and the truck is more than likely a 62, torsion bars, 235 (6) which i problably won't get with the truck, from what i have been able to find so far most people don't drop the 60-62 in the weeds is that right?

i don't want to give away to much information on the 62, i won't want someone to go and get it before i have a chance at it and the 70 is a 4x4 and i miss having one so either way i don't think i can go to wrong. what the general thought on 62's?

Re: new to the forum

You mean like this? You could post your year-specific questions in the forums, like here for the 62 or here for general suspension questions.
