Reminder of simple thing to remember and a "rigged" fix
Well, My cheapo old headers were too close to one plug/wire boot and burned through, started arcing, missing, etc etc. I replaced the wire, and made my own heat shield. Here's what I did:
Cut up a Diet Coke can Cut up an oven mitt (temp coated part) Made a sandwich aluminum material aluminum and pinched up the 3 edges into seams I then wedged in b/t the header pipe and spark plug boot (smooth edge first) and VOILA! Now I better go get a fire extinguisher to carry with me, just in case. I'll get a pic soon.

Yeah...a sammich sounds good right now.
Good quick fix tip there...you can use RTV to temp fix a burnd up wire. My temp fixed wires lasted 3 years before I actually got replacements. |

Seems to work real well. The only issue will be if it gets hot enough to ignite the oven mitt. Hence the need to have an extinguisher on hand.

Well, she was going to toss it anyway as it has a hole in the thumb. So yes, I got lucky.
