My truck in now finished!
At last,
Got my seat back from the upholsterer, I had some gray 60-40 seats from a '95 Silverado that looked ok but were not comfortable and shoved my belly into the steering wheel. Nothing better than the original seats! And finally got a decent windshield gasket (Brothers) and had it removed and re-installed for the 3rd time. I put on the new glove box lid today and I can honestly say.........................WOO HOO, IT'S FINISHED!!! Check it out,

Thanks You will.............sometimes it doesn't look like it will ever get done, especially when you're block sanding the tailgate late at night and looking at all the sheet metal left to do. My big problem now is "what the hell am I going to do with myself now that my nights and week ends are free"? Crashbob

Re: My truck in now finished!
Yes, I made them, the arm rests, radio bezel and ashtray front from some exotic hard wood called Rambutan.
I did everything in my shop except the gauge panel which I machined on a CNC mill.

Re: My truck in now finished!
I really like how your door panels were done.
Kind of makes you think, that if GM did a Escalade style interior back in the 60's and early 70's that this might be how it woulda looked. Nicely done.

That looks real nice, now drive and enjoy. But, if you're like the rest of us, I'm sure you'll find something else on it to tinker with.

Re: My truck in now finished!
crashbob where is your door weatherstriping from? The one that goes pressed on to the cab and hits the door when it shuts? is it just from a 90's model chevy?

Re: My truck in now finished!
Fantastic work! Very elegant but not too gaudy - I'm diggin' the rich wood you used. Congratulations on finishing your project. I might be able to say that in about 3 years!

Re: My truck in now finished!
it looks great just thought I would throw this out there for yea....if wheel clearance is an issue you can slide the column into the dash a bit if you want a bit more room
still sweet what did you do to prevent the wood from warping due to humidity and such |

The wood is an extremely hard and stable species. I actually drilled and tapped the glove box lid for the hinge. Also, I sealed the pieces with a 2 part urethane. Bottom line? Only time will tell how the wood will hold up. CrashBob
