What driveshaft to use on 56 Truck
Does anyone know what driveshaft shaft will fit on my truck? It has a 12 bolt chevelle rear and 350 tranny. Engine is pretty close to stock V8 location. The lenght is what I am after like maybe a 70's or 80's truck or car that someone has used before. I can have one made up but I wanted to save a little money by buying one at wrecking yard.

Anyone know of one that might be close in size. It would really help or maybe know of a driveshaft place in Southern California area that can be built and won't hurt to much on wallet.

Short or long wheelbase? Get a tape out and start measuring. Slide the trans yoke out about 1.5" and measure from center of universal to center of universal on the rearend. Then check the measurements from donor drivelines. If your truck is short wheel base a mid 70's truck short wheel base auto trans one might work without modification; long wheel base one will definately have enough material to work with. Around here it costs about $125 to get one shortened and balanced plus any new u joints you need.
