Front End Stuff

Need some more expert help!
I am planning a complete front end rebuild on my 71 gmc 1/2 ton with front disc brakes.
Can I just purchase parts for a 73-87 gm 1/2 will they will fit on my 71?
I am looking to replace ball joints upper and lower all tie rods and going to drop spindles and rotors.
Or will only 71 upper and lower ball joints work on a 71?
Reason I'm asking is there seems to be a big price difference on stuff from 70-87
in Canada anyways
Thanks Again

Re: Front End Stuff

I believe the answer is no. I think there are significant differences between some of the parts. I haven't done front end work on the two models on a regular basis in so long that I can't remember what some of the differences are. The O'Reilly parts chain site http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/model.oap is quite easy to poke around on and do comparison shopping.

This should bring up the ball joint page for your truck http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...971&vi=1405381

If you take the Moog numbers and google them you can see who is selling those units for what prices all over the place.

What I am saying is "shop around" if you haven't already and also look for outfits that put a package deal together. Check www.northernautoparts.com http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...entoryId=39339 As often they beat the daylights out of other places on name brand stuff.
From looking at the lowers there it looks like that one part number fits a lot of years of trucks.
