Wipers
So ive tried to use my wipers and here is what happens.... When i engage the switch to the left to turn on the wipers move up and stay there. Then after waiting a long time without any change, I turn the switch to the right and the wipers go back down to the off position.
Ive put clamps on the hose connections, so the seals are tight. Is there an issue with the wiper motor do you think? Thanks for your help. '51 Chevy 3100 |

Re: Wipers
I found this thread over at stovebolt.com on "wiper woes" and fixes. I fought that for years on my 59 then coverted to electric. This upgrade I am adding a delay function. http://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/...=468045&page=1 Using the search function there for "wiper rebuild" turns up a bunch of threads, this one seemed the most comprehensive.

Re: Wipers
had the same problem using a v8 to create the vacuum. not enough!. went electric and never looked back. believe me i lived in oregon and drove in the rain for many years with the vacuum set up. go electric if you need to use your wipers you won't regret the decision

Re: Wipers
Going to electric wiper motors is one of the best upgrades that you can make. Not that expensive either.

Re: Wipers
On my 50 they do the same thing, I just figured they didn't work. I plan on going electric on all mine when I work on them.

Do you all think having the motor rebuilt may solve the problem? Thanks

Re: Wipers
link does not give the guys name so hard to say. The stovebolt guys have a guy they like, look in the tech section over there and search for wiper threads.

Re: Wipers
I have another wiper question... my wiper blades are old and cracked and need to be replaced. I measured their length and they're both 11.5" long.
But LMC sells replacements at 9" and 10" long. What should I do? Thanks

Re: Wipers
I came across this while looking for something else and scanned it since I will need it eventually too. It lists the original Trico and Anso numbers. I have had good luck using NAPA to get blade refills for mine, recently for my 64 Chevelle.
