Oddball Modifications?
What are some oddball modifications you have seen done to our trucks? By oddball I mean things not commonly done, things like the "Ashtray slide out LCD screen." I have two myself that I plan on attempting to fabricate, but they are under wraps until further notice.
So, if you have something that's interesting and don't mind sharing it with the rest of us let's hear it! Pictures always help!

Re: Oddball Modifications?
It's not on my Chevy, but for my offroad truck, I have the Burrito mod for heating up a hot lunch while on the trail. It consists of 2 homemade L brackets mounting to the header studs and a $3 Walmart pencil basket.

Re: Oddball Modifications?
I've heard this is what they used to do in the military back in the 50's and 60's (maybe more than that, not sure). They had gimbled holders that would fit a military spec'd can of beans or whatever onto the manifold of a Jeep.

Re: Oddball Modifications?
I did it when I was working for a farmer this summer, but all I did was put my food on the dash, I measured temps past 150 degrees up there one day when I was bored. (it was over 100 in the shade)

Re: Oddball Modifications?
I'll show them when I do them, every one that is shown is optional. If you don't want to show it then don't and keep it to yourself. I've got nothing to show as of this moment.

Re: Oddball Modifications?
my buddy used to have a beautiful '72 swb cheyenne super big block red/black and it was midly lowered.
Since they own a bunch of exhaust shops he fabricated some wicked lake pipes out of 4" stainless and they ran from behind the front wheel down to the rear wheel and turned out. Also he had cut-outs and a line-lock. The lake pipes were sweet, wish I had some pics.

Re: Oddball Modifications?
Here's one in my Longhorn - a very custom cruise control, courtesy of Pep Boys and about a pound of epoxy after the PO cut off the end of the turn signal switch and epoxyed on the switch. It ran off the number one spark plug - there were a lot of wires and looked pretty scary. It was one of the first things I pulled out. I nevered used it, I don't have a death wish.

Re: Oddball Modifications?
We used to wire a can of "all day breakfast" (basically baked beans with suasages and bacon) to the exhaust manifold of my landrover when out off road and I have cooked bacon from scratch by just wrapping it in a few layers of foil and wrapping it round the manifold.

Re: Oddball Modifications?
When building my truck the a/c hoses and the power steering hoses were ran in ways that I had not seen before. I wanted a clean engine bay so the a/c lines were ran thru the inside of the fender and thru the cab vent, the power steering lines were ran thru the frame...
