Re: Show me your headers
These are Sanderson ceramic coated shorty headers I bought from ECE. I love them! No clearance problems whatsoever. My truck is lowered 4/6 so I didnt want to chance long tubes dragging on the ground. Thick flanges therefore no leaks!! Hope this helps. John

Re: Show me your headers
It's been awhile since I've posted but a set of Sanderson's arrived yesterday and I went to put them on this morning. The driver side fit perfect but appears that it will be difficult to change the rear spark plug. The passenger side won't bolt up the cylinder head because it's up against the frame. I'm using the original motor mounts which are new on a 5.7 liter out of a 90 silverado in a 1972 chassie. Viewing the pictures of the Sanderson headers in this thread it doesn't appear that anyone had this issue. Hope I've given enough info so someone can help or give me advice. Thanks John.

Re: Show me your headers
How much is your truck lowered? I have the same headers and was wondering how low I can go and still have decent clearance.

My old Headman's, a pain in the A#& to get to the 3rd plug on this side.

Re: Show me your headers
If your talking about hedmen elites and the third plug on the drivers side you aren't kidding. It took me 45mins to get that plug changed.

Re: Show me your headers
I'll second, or third, or whatever we are up to on the Sanderson's. The plugs aren't too bad to get too. Have to use a wrench from underneath on a couple but not too bad.

Re: Show me your headers
thought I would post some pics of mine(probaly 9th time i've posted these pics) there have been no modifications made to get these to fit ,but the engine is sitting in the 6 cylinder position so I can't say for sure they will work in v8 pos. , they are summit brand block huggers($200).

Re: Show me your headers
No photo but I just put a set of cheapies from Schucks on my 71. I haven't tried changing plugs yet but It may be a challenge on a couple of them. So far no leaks but clearance in some spots could be better.

Re: Show me your headers
I agree, my 3 inch drop would kill those, and my plan is to go 4 to 5 in the front so these wont work for me.
But there some great looking headers. |

Re: Show me your headers
The bottom of the collector is about level with the bottom of the front crossmember.
Correction: I just went out and looked, the bottom of the collector is about 1" below the bottom of the front crossmember. Are you planning to drag your front crossmember? Last edited by Jim_PA; 12-07-2009 at 02:48 PM. |

Big Mike, I have a 3.5/5 drop. I've not had an issue of scraping anything yet.

Re: Show me your headers
combustion, thanks for the compliment. As for the paint, it's called Cast Coat Iron. It's engine enamel made by Dupli-Color. It's available at Advanced Auto Parts.
Auto Zone used to carry it, but they switched to Rustoleum brand. They offer the same color, but I don't know how close it is.
