I feel like such(edit, was really tired last night lol) a fool but I went to order some at a local parts store and he was like "idk if they dont make em, but I cant find them". i did my own lil search and cant find them anywhere. am I missing something? there has got to be aftermarket 4wd motor mounts is there not?

Re: 4x4 scb motor mounts

I think the 2wd and 4wd mounts are the same, but the crossmember is diffrent. I put new mounts in my K10 when I rebuilt the engine, and the local parts store had them in stock.

Re: 4x4 scb motor mounts

they are the same rubbers- 2 or 4, stands are different, be careful, as some anchor mounts use metric bolts while some use standard bolts. Check them before you leave the store.

Re: 4x4 scb motor mounts

The India made mounts are junk... spend the extra money for the energy suspesion kind, I had to buy two sets before I found some that work. I think my K-10 build thread has a pic of the box and part #.

As stated, same mounts for 2WD and 4WD. Or you could upgrade the crossmember with a diy4x.com kind.

Re: 4x4 scb motor mounts

you devil msgross, I had been thinking that way already, but I wanna go as cheap as possible so I think ill go with stock for now. Def going with poly from energy suspension thats what I got for the tranny, they just couldnt find a 72 4wd motor mount. Its weird but I think I understand why they did it.

Re: 4x4 sbc motor mounts

the ones made in India are very cheap, I went that route but wish I didn't now. I stripped one out because it was metric as mentioned... Just be sure to chase the threads before you install is on your block...

Re: 4x4 sbc motor mounts

after looking at how the factory mounts work I can honestly say I dont like them one bit, I think I might just say screw it and get the diy4x crossmember. I wonder if there are any header issues with it?

Re: 4x4 sbc motor mounts

so I went and crawled under my swb 4x4 to see what the motor mounts look like. I actually have a clue as to what they should be, and the ones I got today are totally wrong. what they got me was a clam shell style. Im attaching two pics the first is the one I have to compare, the second is the wrong ones they sent me. I cant seem to find any on the summit site that look anything similar. can you guys point me in the right direction for the proper ones?

Re: 4x4 sbc motor mounts

Thanks msgross, I went and looked at your build to get the part number then went to another lordco and as I was explaining the scenario he knew the part number off hand, turns out hes got a 72 gmc 4x4 himself, this time he knew what had to be used. Ordered a wack load of goodies (they had a sale, warn hubs and a couple other treats) and should pick them up tomorrow before christmas. got an early christmas present for myself as well, couldnt pass up a good deal on a dewalt grinder for 50 bones. Now I wont have to swap disks everytime I switch from cutting to grinding
