Metal Trim pieces and Molding for the front Grille & HEadlight Bezels?

As you may know from my other threads, I'm doing an big overhaul to the front end of my truck, and I'm looking for all the chrome pieces of trim and molding around the grill and headlights.

LMC sells them, but they're all chrome plastic, which I already have. They dent easily and I was wondering if metal pieces existed, or if I just have to keep getting more plastic as it gets scuffed up.

Any ideas?

Your local gm dealership might be able to get it. Not sure. They still sell 81-87 top and bottom trim here locally.

for the metal headlight buckets, you might try the salvage yards (good ones do come in now and then). The upper and lower trim pieces LMC sells are a 1/4" or so too short, you can make them work though. I have them on mine and they're not noticable even to me anymore. Except that I remembered to mention them here...ha

It's been a few years, but I got all the chrome trim on my truck from the dealer. Metal headlight bezels are not reporduced, and they are a pretty penny when you find the N.O.S. ones, but they are out there.

Do yourself a favor and look for NOS parts. It may take some time tracking down the parts but it will be worth it. The trim parts that I could not find I read how to restore them and fixed them myself.

are the trim pieces that go above and below the grille that LMC sells plastic? i know the headlight bezels are, and you really can't tell unless you tap them

Re: Metal Trim pieces and Molding for the front Grille & HEadlight Bezels?

Let me redo this so i don`t get hammered. If your truck is a 79/80 Stay with the metal ones. The plastic ones are junk. I bought a set just for that reason cause i had the repo set.

thanks
pat
NOS are few n far between and are not as good as they were only designed to replace factory. If you get a set have them redone..

The LMC upper and lower trims are stainless like original, only thing made of plastic is the headlight buckets. The upper and lower SS trim pieces do look REALLY good, like I said they are just a bit short, but they work.

Wow dude, that looks killer.

You wanna post your complete process? Where'd you buy them from, who did the chrome work, etc.

I ended up just buying all the plastic LMC stuff for my '78, and you're all right-there are some fitment issues. We were able to make everything work, and normal people wouldn't be able to tell, but you guys would.

Regardless, all the new plastic stuff looks great from about a step away, and while it's still new. I can't complain, but real chrome would be the tits
