Help: ?'s about dually rears

Does anyone know the axle housing diameter of a stock 73 & later dually rearend? Are they bigger than 3" diameter tubing like similar year 12 bolt rears?

the 73 i had was a 3/4 ton and it had the 14 bolt corporate rear end. the tubes WERE 3". hope this helps...1PHATC

Hhmmm... my guess is the 14 bolt rear was pretty standard as far as packaging dimesions so the dually should be the same as the 3/4 ton.

The C30 and K30 dually rear ends were Dana 70's.

The C20 and K20 rear ends were mostly GM rearends, some were Dana 60's.

They are similar looking but are slightly different.

I figure someone on this board has access to a dually to measure the axle housing diameter & hopefully confirm/deny the 3" diameter.

The DRW Dana 70s used in the C/K30 pickups have a 4" tube on them. Other ones (mostly vans) have a 3.5" tube. 14FF's have a 3-3/8" tube
