My truck is sitting at the shop with about 2 feet of snow on it begging for me to bring it inside and let it thaw, but we have to leave the diesels inside or they wont start. So the project has to wait its turn.....

Low of -38 C tonight in Ft. McMurray. Can't wait until June when it warms up. Only another 25 years until I retire someplace warm........

....well, ya live in Canada, doncha????
My wife's stepdad (deceased) was from Illinois. He was a farmer, who moved to "the Valley" of Texas to manage the farms of Herbert W. Armstrongs' World Wide Church of God. He used to comment on our "cold" weather in Arkansas, "You guys live too close to Canada. It gets cold up there."
So, I've kinda used that from time to time. Doesn't make it any warmer, but I've always been able to find a heater or fire to get warm. Now, come summer time, you guys in Canada will be our envy instead, due to the 95-degree heat, coupled with the 85% humidity, creating heat indeces of 110-degrees, i.e, miserable. I can always get warm, when I am cold. However, even when you get nekkid, you can't always get cool when you are hot! I like to look at snow.....YOURS!

I'm with you ChevLoRay I never complain about the cold, but that heat is for the birds!!! The guys I work with call me crazy, but if you hate cold weather and you live in the cold areas of the country who is the crazy one? I want to move to Maine so I don't get cheated out of my winters like I do most years here in PA!

.....heck, they got swamp coolers, now!
I remember the first sensible use of a swamp cooler was in Tucson, back in the late 60's. It was an older adobe house, with 10-ft ceilings and right in the big middle of the ceiling was a swamp cooler. It was blowing at just the right speed and temp. As dry as the air was, the cool moisture was a welcome respite from the heat. Then, driving thru an arroyo at 10 pm with top down on my Poncho was like experiencing a blast from an A/C vent....when the pavement temps were still 100 degrees at 10pm on Speedway.

Even we've got snow forecast for the middle of the week, with sub zero temperatures. Had a week of it at New Year. I need to get out and fit my new power steering gear but it seems either to be too cold or p****ng down with rain and American truck into British garage just doesn't go!

Oh btw, its like -29C here and with the windchill it feels like -40C Only thing about this coldness is that it is too cold to snow. Love living in Jackson! The altitude took awhile to get used to (almost 8,000 feet) but it's cold in winter, and warm in the summer and dry most of the time. The sun shines almost every single day. Best of all in the summer it may be 90 degrees during the day, but it's always agoing to be in the low 50's- high 40's at night. I can take heat during the day, but swealtering at night SUCKS. Been to too many drag races in the midwest in the summer - that heat and humidity and no relief at night, that REALLY SUCKS!

We'll we have 10-12" of snow here in Arcanum, Ohio (Dayton,Oh)
and they are calling for 3-6" more. There is a bright side to all of this...I can't see the rust on my truck anymore because the truck is covered with snow. HEHEHE 70cst :p Last edited by 70cst; 02-16-2003 at 11:45 AM. |

This snow really does SUCK . I live north west of maryland near PA. It just keeps on snowing. It is supose to be up too 2 FEET. We have been spolied around here getting little snow for about 6 YEARS, now were paying for it. All I want to do it take my 72 2wd BLAZER out and cruise. Instead it is in the garage, und the cover, tucked in like a baby.
