I have to make a decision on exterior mouldings or not

My 72 cab is almost ready to paint and i have been telling my body/paint man i wanted to keep the trim holes open because i was going to put new upper and lower moldings on truck when he finishes.I am having second thoughts now and just when i am about to keep mouldings in the plan I call Southern Classics to see about getting them to bring me a complete set down to the Nashville swap meet in Jan. and save shipping cost. They really did not have anything good to say about the reproduction mouldings they sell but they are $300 cheaper than Brothers. Are these mouldings all made at the same place probally Twaian? Are the ones Brothers sells that much better? My body man said he could weld the holes up on the doors and cab posts if i would like.My plan was to paint the truck black BC/CC and put the truck back to a stock look with ralley wheels, exterior mouldings ,original height etc.Boy these Jet Black trucks look good w/o mouldings and lowered and high dollar wheels on them.Confused but i have to make a decision quick!

do you own a drill? its pretty easy to redrill holes if you change your mind later.

If you can find new trim that you are happy with, put it back on. I think these turcks look very sharp with the upper and lower trim.

Re: I have to make a decision on exterior mouldings or not

Shaving mine so I'm not much help. Took all the original 67 moldings off and they are laying in the garage.

I like the shaved look door handles and all. You can always go back to moldings later if you change your mind. The body guy can fill them in alot cheaper than a set of moldings will cost you.

Remember its easier to put them back on after the holes are filled than it is to fill them in later.

I would check with Mar-K.com. They have very good prices and they make their own trim.

I like the trim. I also recommend looking at the Mar-K trim.

Another vote for the trim. GM did a great job when they designed the moldings on these trucks. Clean and attractive.

Re: I have to make a decision on exterior mouldings or not

Especially wanting the closer to stock looking exterior. Black trucks with chrome. This really increases the wow factor. Having the holes filled and realigning the trim sounds like the best advice.
