TDC whistle

Just came across an add for a TDC whistle while I was looking for a piston stop, was wondering if anyone has used one and if they work well or just a gimick,

Re: TDC whistle

Interesting? I would have guessed gimick because I don't know how a whistle would tell you where TDC is?
I used a piston stop rotating the engine back, forth, and did a little math. Months later I swapped heads and used a dial and was dead nuts. I patted myself on the back shortly afterwards.

Re: TDC whistle

I have one attached to an 18" hose. it works great for determining if it is TDC or top of exhaust which is real handy for dist. drop-ins. for finding true TDC you need a piston stop and a machinist ruler. this is a must due to the outter balancer rings moving.
