That would be a good deal but I want to keep my parts to build another truck. I'm just wonderin what it's gonna take. Are the spindles different? What rearend should I use? Is my half ton frame not as strong as a 3/4 ton?

Re: 5-lug to 8-lug

The frame on a 3/4 has extra bracing at the cross member for the carrier bearing.

The 3/4 ton trailing arms are stronger.

My 3/4 ton had a leaf spring on each side behind the rear axle along with heavier coil springs.

The easiest way to do the front end is to change out everything including the cross-memeber.

I am sure some else will chime in with more info

Re: 5-lug to 8-lug

On the front, the spindles and lower control arms are different as well as some of the steering suspension.

On the back you'll want either the Dana 60 (better IMO due to it being more common) or Eaton ???. I know my 69 3/4 GMC has a Dana 60 with leafs. I had a 72 Chevy with the eaton, coil springs, and leaf overloads. I think if I were to do some towing, I'd go with leafs, remove a leaf or two, and then add airbags. That way you have a smoother ride when you're not hauling, but then air up the airbags to get your capacity back.

You can find a 3/4ton truck pretty cheap to get your parts from.
