HI EVERYONE,
I HAVE 71 CHEVY 2wd AND I'AM PUTTING A GAS TANK IN IT FROM A 2wd SUBURBAN. HAS ANYONE THERE DONE THIS?? AND DID YOU NEED TO CUT THE REAR BED RAIL FOR CLEARENCE??

no, dont have to cut frame rails, burb tanks hang down a lil more than blazer tanks,

If its a short bed you have to move both of them plus mod the panard rod,just did one and it took a day

IT IS A SHORT BED TRUCK, AND THE ONLY PROBLEM I'AM HAVING IS THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE TANK AND BEDRAIL ( IT'S THE ONE THAT BOLTS TO THE FRAME).
I WAS LOOKING AT MY 72 BLAZER AND THE TANKS LOOK THE SAME, BUT ON THE BLAZER THE RAIL ABOVE THE TANK IS LOT SHORTER THAN ON THE PICKUP. SO BY NOTCHING IT OUT, I WOULDN'T THINK IT WOULD HURT ANYTHING ( I HOPE ), AND BY DOING IT THAT WAY IT GO RIGHT IN..
THANKS FOR THE INFO, ANY MORE WOULD BE HELPFUL..

I had to cut out a section of the bed rail for my poly. tank to fit, I surely don't plan on hauling anything heavier than a cooler of ice cold brewskis, so I don't think I should have any problems!
Sorry, that is the one of the only things on my truck I haven't taken a picture of yet!
Break out the old Saw Zaw and don't worry about it!
