SD Raised dropmember question
So I was looking at a kit from suicide doors.com and i saw the front raised drop member kit. it says it uses a mustang rack and pinion steering system, but can you use a 67-72 steering column or do you need a mustang steering column?
i emailed them but no response. Last edited by energiesource; 01-11-2010 at 07:12 PM. |

Re: SD Raised dropmember question
You still use the 67-72 column. You will need to modify the shaft and add a u-joint-
Do some research in the suspension section. There are a gazillion posts there about the original "Dropmember" by Porterbuilt and the Dropped Crossmember by Suicide Doors.

You will need 2.) 3/4-36 x 3/4 DD Steering u-joints and 1.) 3/4DD steering shaft about 15 inches or so......just got my in for my Porterbuilt Dropmember which uses the Mustang II rack as well..

Re: SD Raised dropmember question
If you have personal experience with BOTH kits and have first-hand information that make one kit superior to the other, then by all means share it with us. But just saying "do some reading, then call so & so" is not really fair and partial advice to all concerned.

One main difference between the two kits is that the Dropmember comes with installation instructions. The price is the same.

Re: SD Raised dropmember question
I stand corrected on that point.
