Arrow 86 C-10 needs more ride height

ive got an 86 2wd c-10 custom deluxe with 31" x 10.5" tires on stock 15" rallye rims, with stock suspension. ive noticed the drivers side is sagging and the suspension is so damn noisy! it sounds like a bucket of bolts riding down the road!

i plan to get junkyard sourced 4wd rear springs and replace mine
then order LMC's heavy duty front coil springs and ball joint spacers if necessary

i wan to have more ground clearance and i want to run at least 33's without them rubbing

what do yall think?
i also have 3" rear lift blocks sitting in my garage, should i use them?

does anyone have pictures of anything like this?

Re: 86 C-10 needs more ride height

Sounds like a plan I am goin have to do my 86 too. The previous owner heated the front coils to lower the front end and it rides like s$$t. Got to change my rear springs so I can pull my car trailer with it.

Re: 86 C-10 needs more ride height

Here is a pic of my truck when I first got it. It had Fabtech 3" lift coils up front with ball joint spacers, and blocks in the back. The tires were 31x10.50's if I remember correctly on 15x8 rims.

Re: 86 C-10 needs more ride height

My 82 ran on 32x11.50x15s with minimal rubbing. It had stock rear leaf springs and HD (1ton/Diesel) front coils.

The front tires rubbed on the inner fenders, but it was something I could live with as there was nothing there to cut up the tires. As far as running 33"s, depending on how wide they are you may have rubbing problems at the bottom of the front fenders. With my 32x11.50s I had less than 2 finger widths between the tire and fender at the closest point.
The picture below is with the tires straight... I couldn't find the one with them turned.

Re: 86 C-10 needs more ride height

what i did on my old 86 was to put the seven leaf pack that had been re arced in the rear and 3/4 ton springs in the front and got a nice ride height on it. You can put on a 3" lift to give it more height if you want then your 33s will look nice and the truck will sit great.. mine was a 4.3 with a th400 trans and it sat as nice as some of the 4X4 blazers and could haul anything

Re: 86 C-10 needs more ride height

Mine's a 3/4 ton, but this is what I've done to it. It had light duty 3/4 ton front springs and heavy duty 3/4 ton rear springs. I swapped out the front coils to 3/4 ton heavy duty, and put 1.5" lift blocks in the rear. The tires are 265/75/16, or approx 32" tall.
