Water in the glove box - Help
I was doing some work on the '68, collapsing the steering column, removing the power booster, and installing a new CD /radio. Finished up my work, started the truck to test the feel of the steering in it's new position and when I hit the brakes, water came pouring out of the glove box! I opened it and it is full of water. It rained quite heavily overnight and found it's way inside. Any ideas of where to look for leaks? Has this happened to anyone else? Is this common?

Pull the cowl and take a peek, also could be coming in the windshield seal. I've been dealing with this lately. Leaves and stuff can get in the cowl and rot it out.

Re: Water in the glove box - Help
i took the radio and antenna out of mine and put in a factory delete panel and forgot to plug the hole in the firewall where the antenna went thru. and i was getting water in the glove box too.
i dont know if you are running a stock antenna or one of the hidden 12v ones. worth a look though... Last edited by surfacerust; 01-17-2010 at 05:55 PM. |

Re: Water in the glove box - Help
Could be any of the above. Your cowl has a joint in the bottom from the factory.on both sides. It was just sealed up with Gunk (sealer) it dries out it sometimes just falls out and can leak. probably not it but you can see it from the inside if you take out the liner. Blow some air up from the inside

Re: Water in the glove box - Help
I agree with the cowl leak.Remember that if the drain holes in the lower rear of the fenders are clogged there will be more water to leak.So clean out the drains while you're checking under the cowl. Then reseal or repair the cowl.

Re: Water in the glove box - Help
I'm gonna go against the grain on this one. You put in a new radio so if you messed with the antenna it has a seal in the cowl that can leak too.
