intermittent starting issue

Subject: 1986 C-10 4.3 w/ factory Q-jet.

Issue: If you just pump the throttle by mistake just once when the engine is still warm it will not start. After waiting a few hours for the engine to cool off it will start will no problem. New coil and ecm installed last year.

Solution:?

Re: intermittent starting issue

my first thought would be to inspect the linkage and make sure that its properly working, and the butterfly is. When you flood a carbbed engine you can take a screwdriver and hold the butterfly open and it will start with the gas pedal fully depressed.

Re: intermittent starting issue

on the passenger side of your carb, there should be a little plastic can looking thing with a vaccc hose going to it. inside is an thermostatic spring.

it has prob. went out, replace and let us know. should cost 5 bucks and 5 minuets,
