First real truck
I am mostly a car guy but I have recently purchased a 1969 Chevy C-50 with a '93 Jerr-Dan carrier. It has a fairly recent rebuilt 350 4-V. I have owned many pick ups and vans but this is my first "big" truck. I bought this to move my cars around. I have a small collection of 1968-1969 Mercury Cougars. I know that I will never here the end of this when i pull up to a Ford show in my Chevy rollback with a couple Cougars on there but I could not pass up the deal. The price was right! And i know I am not going hear a damn thing the first time i go out and rescue one of my car buddies when he breaks down. It needs some work but is basically functional. I am hoping put historic tags on it but that may not be possible as MVA may consider it a commercial vehicle.
I have not transfered the title yet. Is there any information out there as to which state might be the best choice to title it in? Preferrably a state where inspections are lax or non existent. I live in Maryland so I would be able to easily do this in West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvannia or Delaware, Is it possible to register vehicles in a state without ever going there? Maine? I am also exploring options for tires. the existing 9-R 22.5 tires have dry rotted and need to replace them. Do I need to replace exactly or are there less expensive options? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
