My 87 GMC
Here is my 87 GMC, I plan on putting in a 4-6 lowering kit in, But i don't know if my 275/45/R20 tires work be to big to be able to turn in the front. If anyone knows anything about that size or any comments that would be good.

Re: My 87 GMC
I am putting a 4/6 lowering kit in the spring and putting a couple of racing seats in, with a subwoofer in the middle. The motor is a 350 TBI with a solid cam a K@N intake with a throttle body spacer. The exhaust is a cherry bomb extreme that come out in front of the tires.

Sharp looking truck. Yeah you always like them better after you spend some time working on them. That's what makes this hobby/obsession so fun! Keep us updated.
You may check out the suspension section. They may be able to answer some of your questions too. |

Re: My 87 GMC
I dont have any more pics on this comp (i lost them all on my other comp that crashed) and the truck is in storage so i wont be able to get any new pics till i go check on it or spring. When I get more i will post them.
And for the tire issues, would smaller tires be able to fit then? But i just bought 2 new tires for 300 so i hope they fit.

Re: My 87 GMC
that seems like a pretty tall tire. I think it may hit the inner fender on a decent bump with that much in the front. thats just my opinion.

Re: My 87 GMC
I have the exact same wheels and that size of tires! I am going to lower mine 4.5" front and 5-6" in the rear. My truck is currently getting the engine and engine compartment spruced up. My truck is originally a similar color, but a long bed 3/4 ton getting converted to 1/2 ton.

whats the backspacing on those rims > 5.5 in backspacing may be ok , but real close. Also , how wide are the rims.

Re: My 87 GMC
I am not sure what the back spacing is but they are 8.5" wide, but I am sure that the backspacing has to be close to 5.5.

Re: My 87 GMC
ok you are going down 4 in with 20 in rims
mine are 17 in rims with 5.5 drop with 255- 50's > Ithink you will be barely ok with the width ,but the height may be the problem > give it a shot --what the hell ! rims really look nice < just change the tire size if need be to a 255 or 245 |
