R & R a TH350 outta of a 69 C10
So planning on R&R'n a TH350 on my 69 C10... while on jack stands/blocks... It's about 2 feet of the garage floor... I was planning on using a tranny jack... am I gunna run into clearance issues trying to yard it out from under the truck once out and on the jack? What would be best... short of putting it on a hoist or pullin the whole eng & drive train in one piece?

I've ran into that problem myself several times. I even have a cradle that fits on my floor jack, but the truck would have to be jacked up about 3' to make it work. I usually just slide the tranny off the jack & onto the ground , then slide it out from under the truck. john

2 guys and a floor jack is all you need. done this too many times. I have a tranny jack but you have to have the truck about a mile high to use it...floor jack is fine

I usually remove it from the tranny jack and onto some cardboard or an old moving blanket, then drag it out. Aim it so that the bellhousing comes out the wheel well opening.
Don't forget to support the engine under the oilpan. I use a short (9 inch or so) 2x4 and a bottle jack. If you don't do this, then the engine will want to roll back, and place the weight on the exhaust system. If you have old manifolds, it can, and almost certianly crack/break them. |

Thanks guy's... the floor jack with a length of 2x6 bolted to it did the job.... but now I can't remember how the shift bracket hooked up to the tranny
