Flooring choice

I was wanting opinions On should I go with rubber floor or vinyl no carpet tell I replace floor. 72 c10 2wd. What's been your experiences and if anyone has pics of either installed that would be great. Thanks for any help

i would go with the cheapest repop one they make. i would think that there is much of a difference between vinyl and rubber?

Rubber is much more flexable....

x2 and vinyl will get brittle over time with heat and humidity changes. rubber is also a better sound and vibration insulator than vinyl.

I had rubber in my '68, I've been seriously considering bedliner for my '72 once I repair all the rust. Anyone done this, any thoughts? I figure it'd beat the pants off carpet or vinyl for protection once I get all the rust cut out, sandblasted, re-undercoated, etc.

Was tossing out another idea. Actually, I'll likely be ordering one of the $99 rubber mats from LMC before long. Even if I go with bedliner, it'd be a year off most likely. I had a friend who bought a bunch and shot his sportster with it, UGLY for sure, but the experience he had with the DIY liner wasn't as bad as you'd think, and it's a tough finish.

That's what made me think of it for our floors. Problem with anything else, you paint the floor nice to keep it from rusting, right? then you throw carpet in and guess what dust and dirt and crap get under/through it and abrade the finish, water sits on it from wet boots, etc. Rubber is more impervious, but if anything gets underneath it same same. Bedliner, for all the reasons you'd put it in a bed, seems to match up perfect with the floor of a cab. Toss in that it'll never shift around, buckle, would fit like second skin...

Personally, I'm not a fan of carpet. None in my house (tile, marble, hardwood) and none in my truck. wife's car has it and it's a pain in the arse to deal with when it gets dirty.

I agree with Trip59 100% on the carpet, in or out of the truck. Between the dogs, the kid and my shenanigans..........carpet is always a bad idea and a problem. I like the bed-liner in the cab idea, although once you do it..........there is no going back.

depends on what you want to use your truck for... I bought a rubber mat since mine is 4WD and came that way... if was just for daily use until I do more floor work then I would just run floor mats...

It is a heck of a committment, though I figured, I could always throw rubber or - ack - carpet over the top of it since it's so thin... worst case, it'd protect against the dirt and scuffing and whatnot I mentioned earlier.

Only REAL downside is that you couldn't put the sound deadening material in if you did it that way... that just occurred to me last night when I was pricing that stuff and had a "D'OH!" moment.

Still not a bad idea..........I've heard of people sprayin' their whole 4X4 vehicle with the stuff, extra thick, with alot of texture. It actually looked pretty darn good. Unique and abrasive.

I've also been thinking about going the bed liner route but have been wondering if it would provide any sound deadening at all? i guess it cant get any louder in my truck but i was hoping to put something in that would keep the interior noise at a reasonable level.

fatmat, dynamat, lizard skin etc... i wouldn't spend the money on it if you are going to replace sheetmetal though.

raptor bed liner is what I plan to use under my cab, firewall etc...

i allready replaced the bad sheetmetal, and dont really want to spend the $$$ on the dynamat products, and would perfer the bed liner over the carpet but was hoping that it was a decent sound deadener. I might just use it and then use dynamat for the firewall and behind the seat and insides of the door to help keep it somewhat quiet then go with the bedliner on just the floor.
