What does it take to fit a 72 GMC grill on a 71 Chevy?
I've been playing with the idea of putting a 72 GMC grill in my 71 chevy (I call it a 71 but it's got parts from about 69-72.). Knowing that the radiator support is a little different I was curious of how hard it would be to either add the extra two headlights or do I need to find a gmc core support?

You'll need fenders, core support, plus the upper grill filler piece to make it work rigth. the 69-72 Chevy fenders/core support are not the same as the 69-72 GMC (67/68 Chevy and 67-72 GMC re swappable)

I guess I never realized the fenders are different. I've owned several of these trucks (6 by age 25) but never a GMC. I just have a few GMC parts around.
I take it the fenders are only different where the grill mounts up against the front of the fender or is it where the core support and fender bolts together? |

Brant, the fenders are only different around the grille. You can use 67-68 Chevy fenders though if you can't find GMC ones, except the 67's won't have the side markers. Like others said, you will definitely have to find a GMC support, but the fenders should be pretty easy to come by around our area. Trevor

The good news is I have a whole '68 front clip tucked back in one of the hay sheds. Who knows what I'll do, Trevor you probably know as well as anyone....by the time I get the thing put together....my ideas will change 100 times. Thanks for the input guys!

What about the inner fenders? Are they the same for GMC & Chevrolet?
