Easiest way to lower the rear of my truck
I have a 1964 GMC Fleetside with rear leaf suspension. What would be the easiest way to lower the rear..
I bought some drop shackles from a member who said he had them on his 72, but they will not fit my leaf mounts in the rear. The book says 63-72 so I guess he had the later model shackles...... So, can you drop the leafs under the axle? I know I can buy drop mono leafs, but $ 400..!!!!.a little too much for me.... And I could just order a set of drop shackles, but I thought I would see what other options are out there..... So what would be my options? Thanks for the help Chad

Re: Easiest way to lower the rear of my truck
How much do you want to lower it? By adding a longer shackle you can 2"-3" drop for pretty cheap. You could also pull a leaf or two from the pack for an inch or two more.
Next "cheap" option would be to remove the front spring hanger and move it up on the frame. If you do this, you will want to combine it with the shackle drop so your pinion angle doesn't go too far out. Then there's the flip kit. They are pretty cheap and get you a solid 5" of drop.

Re: Easiest way to lower the rear of my truck
i dropped the front probably 3" by cutting the stock springs......so do the same for the back.........If I can get by with shackles, I'll probably just do that....
