Dual Shock Hangers in wheel Well
I'm looking for dual shock hangers for the front suspension mounted inside the wheel wells. I've seen some pics on here that have them but can't find any info.
Please help! |

Re: Dual Shock Hangers in wheel Well
Are you referring to factory quad shock like on my '89?

Re: Dual Shock Hangers in wheel Well
Most of the aftermarket suspension companies make bracket kits. Rancho, Tuff Country, TrailMaster etc. The simplest form just runs another shock right next to the original. They make a bracket that is very similar to the factory bracket, only larger. A longer bolt goes through both brackets, shocks, and through the frame. At the bottom, the original shock is pulled out of the bracket and both shocks are bolted to the same stock bracket. A longer bolt goes through both, one on each side of the original bracket. A spacer goes in the original shocks space to keep from crushing the bracket.
I am not a huge fan of this though. It is off-road racing tech which is not necessary on the street. Most guys just bolt on 2 of the same shock that they had before.....not the point at all. It can add a noticeable stiffness to the suspension. For the street, it's just "looks". True "dual shocks" are softer to compensate for the fact that there are two of them. The idea is to reduce the heat that builds up in as the shock travels, since each one is only doing half the job.
