Re: starter problems help
So when you turn on the key nothing happens? Headlights dont work either? If the answer is yes to both you either are missing the battery ground or does yours have a positive coming off the battery that goes to the terminal stud on the fender? That could be interupted.
Ill check on the wiring, but the purple should be coming from the ignition switch, yellow(if your still using points) goes to the R terminal, and Big red to the post from the battery. Just checked, Purple goes to the S terminal, Yellow goes to the R. Smitty

Re: starter problems help
yea to all i am still running points and it had a wire going to a stud on the fender but there was never anything on the other side of the termanal. i do have 2 wirers hanging neer the battery one is red and the other a brown fused wire. i dont know if that has anything to do with it or not. the PO was not a wiring pro to sat the least.

Re: starter problems help
those two wires need to be hooked up to the + bat side. Try that and see what happens.

Re: starter problems help
the red one provides power to everthing, the brown one is the fuseable link to send power to the red one.
You could just hook up the red one for now to make sure everything works, but i would put in the link with the fender terminal. Unhook the ground first though. Smitty
