New guy, New truck(w/pics)
Hey guys,, how is everyone?
Before I start I would like to say that this is the most helpful forum that I am a subscribing member too. They way you guys treat each other is amazing. Your always there to help and treat each other with the utmost respect. So anyway, I have been on the boards just lurking around for about 6 months now while I was looking for a truck. After looking at alot of rust buckets with huge price tags I stumbled upon a craigslist ad here in arkansas(home state). I went and checked the truck out and it was a gem lol. Anyway the rest is history and I drug it home. The truck is a factory custom/10 v8 truck. Original colors were white/hugger/white and the last collector the paint the truck repainted it in factory colors. Engine is a basic 350 with a few bolt ons and cam change...700r4 trans. Im pretty new to old vehicles, Ive always been into lsx platforms(vette, ta, z28). But so far so good.. Now I just need to get this truck lower to the ground lol Maybe you guys can answer some questions for me and give me some suggestions on what would be the best route to take. Anyway here are the pics.....More available upon request. It was starting to rain so i couldn't really get the truck out of the garage much to snap some pics. anyway thanks, all feedback welcome Last edited by 19seventeeCustom; 03-17-2010 at 03:48 PM. Great looking truck. Here is a pic of mine. My son bought the wheels and tires. I plan to give him the truck in 5 to 10 years.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the kind words, we are all good "Most" of the time .
Great looking truck, it looks like it may have been dropped a little already, although it might just be the tires playing tricks on my eyes. What are your plans for it? And be sure to post some more pics when the sun comes out. Also, what did you get it for if you don't mind me asking?

Re: New guy, New truck(w/pics)
the truck is a 70. I will most certainly post better shots in better lighting, but I am far from a phtographer.. lol
plans are low static drop, w/tt2's (20's). and of course a few supporting suspension mods as well....then just cruise it Im thinking 2.5"/spindles w/removed bumpstops front and a 2" block in the rear. but im not sure if thats quite low enough for a 20" wheel??? sorry not going to disclose amount.....although I think I done great. |

Re: New guy, New truck(w/pics)
The wheels are Coy's 22 inch. 2& 1/2 inch drop in the front. 4 inch drop in the rear. I wanted 20 inch wheels, but my son bought them. Need more room between the tire, and the front fender. One tire hits the fender in the front. The back spacing is wrong I think. The rear are fine. Stick with 20's. I sent the pic of the truck again.

Re: New guy, New truck(w/pics)
to the board from Mid-MO 19seventeeCustom!!!
First off, your truck looks to be a close twin to mine, minus the center color. If you're looking to just install a spring drop, then look no closer than Early Classic Enterprises. powell72, myself, and several others on the site have used their products and wouldn't go anywhere else. Check out my build thread in my signature (Blank Slate) for the complete install of a 4.5/6" drop and disc brake conversion with 6-lug discs. Here's a quick shot of what you'll end up with.... One thing to remember is that when you lower a 67-70 truck with drop spindles you widen the front track width .75" on each side. So you might run into issues with your current wheel/tire setup. On my truck at the moment, I'm running 15x7 6-lug rallys (yes they exist) on the front, and 15x8 6-lug rallys on the rear, mounted with 235 75R15's because they were all I had at the moment. By the way... if she's road worthy, run up to the Magic Dragon show in Lake Ozark, MO on April 30-May 2. You will not regret it; over 800+ participants. Check out the Missouri section of the board for more info, or shoot me a pm.

Re: New guy, New truck(w/pics)
thanks 72blkbuty. I am very interested in the show. She is most certainly road worthy so thats of no issue at all. I will be attending Nashville goodguys also in a couple months... cant wait. Goodguys is what got me started on these trucks this time last year.
Could you give me some measurements? From the ground to the bottom of the wheel arch? Mine currently is sitting at 29 3/4". That extra .75" worries me as i think the tire may rub a little with the extra width. The truck came with eibach springs front and rear but I cant seem to pull the p/n's up online to see exactly what drop they are...im assuming a 2/4 drop but really not sure. Also the truck already has been converted to disk brakes and 5 lug so would I still need the same spindles that widen track width? or could I use later spindles that dont increase the track width? Sorry for all the questions Im just very anxious to get this truck sitten right!! |
