73-80 Hood Interchange?

I'm in the middle of a build and need to replace the hood on my '80 K20 due to rust pin holes in the nose.

I found a good hood off a '73 but have not bought it yet. Will it fit? Inside latch release problems?

I also hear there is some detail change on the nose of the '80.

Thanks

Re: 73-80 Hood Interchange?

79 & 80 would have a moulded relief on the nose of the hood. Otherwise, 73 thru 80 all fit the same.

Re: 73-80 Hood Interchange?

'77 was the first year for the change at the front of the hood, and also the first year for the optional inside hood release. If you have the inside release, you will need to cut a hole in the underside of the hood for clearance of the safety hook. If you need to do this, just measure from your original hood, then cut the hole.

OK thanks guys. I think I'll try to find 77 and up for replacement. I like the look of the relief on the nose.
