Question air breather

I replaced the points distributor in my '72 c10 307 with a HEI distributor and when I installed my 14" aftermarket air breather on the 4 barrel carb it hits the distributor. Are there 12" air breathers and where could I get one?

Thank you.

Re: air breather

I had the same problem with mine. I threw on a 10", but I was also told that was too small. Funny too, because the 10" was bigger than the little thing that my brother-in-law had put on it before I got it. Seems to run pretty good to me. Does anyone know if it'll make a huge difference either way? The guys at the Autozone didn't seem to think so.

Re: air breather

you could use the spacer like they did from the factory to raise the aircleaner for clearance issues// maybe someone has the pic to post it, i just saw it posted recently.. or maybe look in LMC catalogue and see if they offer it

Re: air breather

Your local parts store may have them. Mr. Gasket, Trans Dapt makes some. Summit has a big selection.

Re: air breather

You could use this. Its just an offset base for a 14" filter, specially made for HEI distributers. I plan on getting one of these because i've got the same problem

Re: air breather

all you need is a spacer that is offered from summit for like 7 dollars. it raises the air cleaner about an incha and a half if that but it clears just fine
