Welcome to the forum
You can use the booster and master with the brackets from a '73-'87. You'll just have to drill some holes to bolt it up. If you don't already have the booster, you might take a look at the booster brackets that I make and sell. They are 100% bolt on....no holes to drill and worry about hitting something on the other side. The links are in my sig below.

ok sorry if i sound redundant i just need to get it all down before i start tearing in to my truck. booster/mc from any 73-87. is there any difference between a booster with a cast iron resirvoir and one with the plastic one? does it matter? what has to be done to the shaft or rod? if anything. prop valve 73-87 also? what size brake line is needed? fittings? what tools? this is my first project so i want to have all the info possible. again thank you guys for the help. |

Re: brake booster/mc for my brake swap!!
I used the booster and master cyclinder off of the donner truck when I switched to disc on my 65. I used the exsiting holes to mount it using the 4 bottom holes on mounting bracket. That was 12 years about 40K miles ago, haven't had any problems.
You'll need to run new lines for your front brakes and new lines for your rear's back to the hose that links between your rear axle and frame. I used washers and "thin" nut to mate up the rubber front hoses with the new hard lines using holes in the frame located between the front shocks and front suspension. You will have to lengthen the rod that goes from your brake pedal to the master. Last edited by Russ65C10; 04-02-2010 at 06:05 PM. |
