new Repro plain tailgate
I just ordered a new tailgate from LMC. Its a plain repro gate. i should have just called LMC but maybe u guys that bought one can tell me. do these tailgates come with new internal hardware? if not how do i get it apart to put the old hardware from my other gate into it? i only see 3 bolts on the inside of the gate but no access to get to the stuff. thanks

Re: new Repro plain tailgate
There should be bolts holding the latches on the sides, the center bolts hold the main handle and then the bars that extend out to the sides...

Re: new Repro plain tailgate
They all come empty. You have to loosen the bolts on the latch lever and remove the little metal clips to the actuator rods. We have them in stock if they break. then wiggle out the latch. unbolt the latch on the ends and pull them out with the rods. reverse is opposite.

not that I know of. I use a hammer driver to remove the screws. They Will be tight if never removed. Tilt the tailgate back up to the closed position and wiggle the latch around to expose the little clips. you just pull on the latch rod and they should pull out of the little clip. Its a metal clip on these trucks. just do both sides and then just wiggle the latch out is the only way I can describe it. The hardest part is getting off the latch mounting screws. |
