Well, I broke down and bought another one!

Some of the guys here (GMCPAUL, ect.) may or may not remember me. I had a 70 CST LWB through high school, and showed with some of the guys up at the Indy Super Chevy for a couple years. I traded the truck off my senior year of high school and have regreted it even since.

Now 5 years later, I have become a 67-72 owner again. My wife recently totaled one of our vehicles, and gave me the opportunity to do a little shopping! I was dead set on a SWB 4x4 other then that I didn't care. I finally found this 71 SWB with a 454/auto combo in Missouri. After some more searching and thinking I decided it had to be mine. I don't have it home yet, waiting for bank things to happen, then I'm having it shipped the 600miles home. I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for it to arrive, but I figured I would go ahead and show y'all what I'm working with. This will be sharing the daily driving duties with my 70 Big Block Nova. Let me know what you guys think!

Looks nice, let us know what the usual rust areas look like when you get it.

Finally got the truck home and all cleaned up. Guys I bought a diamond in the rough!!! Truck is mostly rust free, besides a little rot innthe cab mounts, and one bubble on the drivers door! Bed floor is in good condition, 8.5/10?!? It does have a dent in the pass. bedside that I think I can get out without damage, and they ran it into something and smashed the grille a bit and pushed the front of the pass. fender back a bit. Nothing a little work can't fix when I decide to paint it, but the paint is in such good shape that's gonna be awhile. Overall, I'm stoked to have found such a killer deal on a beautiful truck! More pictures to follow!!!

Re: Well, I broke down and bought another one!

question about your old one - are those wheels in the 5 x 5" lug pattern? they look like they're off a camaro but i didn't think those were 5 x 5"?

Re: Well, I broke down and bought another one!

The wheels are IROC wheels, and they bolted right up( I think they are 5x4.75 could be wrong). The truck had discs up front and drums out back, figured someone had converted it, and never tracked down what the rear was out of.

As far as rust, the cab mounts are just ok, not rotten but not perfect. Rest of the truck is supposed to be rust free. I believe it to have already received rockers at a minimum. I'll know more once it's here, if it is all patched up I'm going to be slightly upset, as it was sold to me as having very little work done to it and being mostly rust free. I didn't pay project money for it so I'm really hoping for a nice peice!
