Crazy prices for lift kits
Would like to put a 4 or 6" lift on my Blazer... Back in '05 soon after I bought the truck, I looked at prices & I could get a 6" w/ all springs, bolts, brake lines, shocks & steering stabilizer for right around $900. But this past week I've been pricing around & now just springs are that much. The one kit I've been able to find with all that stuff in it is like $1400

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
A few moth bad I looked up some 6inch spring for the back of my truck, 72. And they wanted about 300 bucks a piece. For the middle ride comfort, the soft rides were even more.

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
Alot of companies (and I don't care what their selling) just refuse to realize that they likely would make more money if they lowered their prices to consumers. These days it seems you can only aford a big purchase farer and fewer times between the years.

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
I agree with what you guys are saying here. Sometimes you can get a complete truck as a donor having the part you need in exchange for the price of the actual parts some of these companies are selling. For example: My 91 burb has been upgraded from 1/2 ton springs to 1 ton springs. I called 20 places a few years ago and they all wanted in the neighborhood of 600 to 700 bones. My friend got a wrecked ambulance that I went in on for 200 bucks and I got my springs, 454 computer and harness, and the anti-lock braking system.

That 4" lift with blocks is only $350 and less than $700 for full springs all the way around. I was real concerned the first time I bought it that it might be cheap but was very impressed with it.

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
The cost of steel went up since 2005.I bought my springs for way less back then.
John@the pier is right. They`d sell more and make more if they saw that they are pricing themselves out of reach of most and brought prices down.Figure houses cost less now.And they are actually needed. No one was offering us builders more money because the cost of materials and fuel went up.Try sleeping up under your lifted truck on a cold snow blown night. ![]()

I just did 4" front springs from summit (superlift) and a shackle flip (diy4x.com) for around 500-650.

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
What kills me is when they make you buy bushings separate.Aren`t the expensive springs worthless w/o the cheap bushings? Are they leaving you the option to re-use the old ones?

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
you can do a shackle flip(4"lift) and get say 2 "springs for rear and put 52" springs(will be close to 4" lift) up front with longer shackels(2" longer) =6" crazy flex
or the rear spring shackle(back end of truck) you can cut the bracket drop it down and get like 3" lift + 1" zero rate= 4"(i wouldn't do this on my DD buti have buddies that did it and love it) and then get some front springs you could also look for someone selling used springs i put used 56" 6" lift springs(4"s longer then the stock 52" springs) on my 82 k10 made the back ride nicer and some 6" tuff country up front above swap no so much fun on burbs/blazers because of gas tank. there are good cheaper ways to lift trucks just search i hope this helps a little |

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
I have had two sets on my front an neither sit level. Second set replaced the first set. I have had probably 4 sets of Tuff Country and never had a problem with em.

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
Let us know what brand and see what we can do. we sell like 8 or ten brands of lift kits. Some companies however are still advertising certain parts and they have been discontinued for these.

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
Using a shackle flip and less lift springs is the most expensive way to lift a truck.Use one or the other if money is an issue.I use springs because I don`t abuse my trucks and I get new springs on an old truck.

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
I have some parts for sale on the forum, 2) new springs sets and 1) used front and also used rear springs with blocks.
Mostly 6" stuff. The freight is the worst part, but UPS will take each spring seperate. Or you can pick them up in Houston. Send me a PM and I will send you some pics so you can measure the arc against what you have. They need a new home.

I'm really not picky on the brand, I mean I'll slap what ever sticker on my pick up once I install it. I just want a all leaf lift for under 600 bucks, that's bigger than 4". I really need to get my priorities in order, i keep finding other pick ups i can buy that i want...

Re: Crazy prices for lift kits
My front ones are new uninstalled Tough Country Soft Ride.
Although the part number is 4", they are 6". I can send a picture of them with the arch so you can measure them to what you have. The rears are heavy duty with lift blocks, so you may not want those.
