VERY NICE original 72 for sale-(not mine)

So I'm driving & I spot this pickup at a local old used car lot. This guy has had a few of this body style over the years, so he knows what is nice. I spin around & stop to look at it, and it is about one of the nicest survivors I have ever seen. It is all original under the hood. 68k miles. custom 10, but it has carpet. No air. Short/Step 4x4. Nice original paint, a little faded, but looks plenty thick to buff. No dings or dents. Just a cute, nice truck! Still has paint on the wood in the bed, but peeled some & wood has cracked some. I don't believe in rust-free, but I didn't see any in the usual places. Didn't look at the cab mounts. So the owner of the lot comes out & talks to me. It turns out he has had the truck since 1976. He put all but the first 6000 miles on it. Here is the kicker. Like I said, he knows what is a nice truck in this body style. He wants $16,000 for it!!!!
It would be a nice truck for someone.
I did snap a picture with my phone:

Lot of psych in selling. Guy wants 9K for his truck so he asks 16K. Most people work in round numbers so you offer him 10K. You brag to you friends and how low you got him and he gets even more than what he was thinking in his head. If you sell a lot on eBay like I do.....you get to really start seeing the way people buy things. Crazy really.

I don't sell enough I guess,,,, I go by what I think it's worth, and what I would pay for it, and also at least get my money out of it,,, (sometimes) I will have to try that sometime,,,,
Thanks
Joe

My example was also a gross exaggeration to make a little point. A lot of people do what you do. There has to be at least a little emotion in the purchase too.

FWIW...2+ years ago I bought a 70, c20, about the same condition as yours, from a member in Madison, Wi. 92K original miles. Pd $5500. All I've needed to do was HEI (original dizzy bushings were bad).

YMMV...good luck...don t. .....

Last thing I need is another truck, but reading your post -- clean original Short/Step 4x4 got me drooling & thinking maybe, maybe....

The asking price stopped me cold. Ah well, the last thing I need is another truck.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I saw it, then looked under the hood, then looked at the rockers etc.

Then..............yep, the price. I was thinking maybe $9000, and hoping maybe $4500.
