New to the forum w/ a 68 C10...
Hey guys,
Just thought i would say hi to everyone and post up my truck. i've been checking out this forum a little bit and there is alot of good info on here! here are some pics of my '68 C10 Custom long bed. it doesn't have a engine right now but i have 250 L6 that is out of another truck that i had and still runs good i want to put in it but i'm having problems finding the mounts that go to the block for the 250. the engine is out of a 81 chevy can i swap the mounts and use the ones off the other truck. will they work ok or not?

Re: New to the forum w/ a 68 C10...
welcome for NE TN. Nice truck, looks to be in good shape. To answer the question I am pretty sure you can use the mounts from the 81 you might have to drill a hole or two. I'm not sure for the six bangers, but I'm using newer clam style engine mounts for my v8 68. I have to drill two holes for them to work. That shouldn't be that big of a deal. But you should check the classifieds here Im sure there is somebody that has a set of 6 banget engine stands for sale.

Re: New to the forum w/ a 68 C10...
Well the plans for the truck for now are as follows i guess.
1. Build engine stands for the 6 and maybe make solid motor mounts 2. Clean the engine up so it doesn't look nasty when i do put it in 3. Install the heater controls when i find a nice one 4. Put a glove box in it 5. Install a radio (want to find one w/ a ipod jack in it to take care of the cd player problem b/c i dont want to cut the dash up. Gotta start small so i don't go broke doing it though. Of course clean it up some after its running, then i just want to enjoy it for a while b/f i tear it apart for a frame off resto and i still need to finish my 87 LWB 4x4 and it needs quite a bit before its done so i'll just enjoy the Black Bandit until then. My buddy picked out the name Black Bandit and it stuck so i figured it fit the truck.

Re: New to the forum w/ a 68 C10...
Well the engine plans have changed and the trans i got is no good so i found a 327 to put in it and another saginaw 3sp. I plan on getting the trans today and the 327 wednesday. i think i might be missing the trans crossmember that holds the tail of the trans. so i need to find one.

Re: New to the forum w/ a 68 C10...
welcome, I'm a native Hoosier as well...now in PA
search for a member named teeitup, he parts a lot of trucks and has ads in the classified section. If you become a paying member (use the subscription link) then you can also post a want ad in the section... nice truck, 327 was probably what came in it anyway so good choice. does it have buckets or a straight bench?

Re: New to the forum w/ a 68 C10...
Thanks, It has a bench seat. I thought maybe it came with a 307 originally but i don't know for sure. I'm gonna take the seat out and see if the build sheet is still there. I picked up the new trans yesterday.
