What? 14 bolt rear end?

I have a 72 3/4 ton truck. It lists a 4.10 gear ratio on the glovebox option list. It feels like a 4.10 when driving it. However, I was under the truck yesterday, and noticed it had a 14 bolt dana style rear end (leaf). I also noticed that the shock mounts and spring perches were relocated to fit my truck. I though the dana 60 rear ends in a 3/4 ton were 10 bolt. Is this a 1 ton rear or something. What type of rear end is this??

My guess would be someone pulled a Corp 14 bolt from a 73+ 3/4 or 1 ton. It's a good rear......bulletproof.

Gotta' go with Buck on this one. Most 14 bolts were 4.10 gears as well.

Somebody probably pulled your Dana or eaton and swapped in a 14 bolt at some time in the past.

The vast majority of the 14 bolts Ive dealt with were 3.73's. Those are just the ones Ive dealt with so maybe I run with a weird crowd but Ive seen a lot. I also wouldnt say they are bulletproof. My dad alone has blown up two in the last 5 years and I had to rescue him both times.

Danas are 4.10's about 95% of the time according to my laying in the mud looking for a 4.56 geared dana 60 research over the weekend. I must have scraped grease off of 50 tags looking for a 4.56 . Nada ! Mostly 4.10's , some 3.73's and a few 3.54's. Dodge likes 3.54's .
