As usual the rust is right under the battery box. Has anyone purchased a new one? How do they compare to the old ones? Should i just repair the rust? It seems i am starting to get to the point were i visit the money tree way too often.

Judging from your picture that would be an easy repair. You can make your own patch or get one from one of our member vendors.

I think Brothers truck parts is the only one that sells the patch. If you click on my build thread you can see pictures of it that fishingjred posted or see how I repaired mine with some 1/8x4" steel.

Patch it. The original cores are better. I fixed the hole in mine almost identical to that one. Don't bother with buying a patch plate. Save your money. Just get some mild steel sheet the same thickness and cut a nice square hole and make sure you get all the rust out and mark your patch material, cut it, fit it, weld it in, grind the welds, then you is done man.

You can fix that in about 30 minutes... you need to blast it IMO. Do that first cause a lot of time it will show you holes that you did not know were there.

yeah agree with the above, that is nothing and would be a easy fix. Definitely before anything get it blasted or do it yourself.. this will show any other areas needing attention.. I ended up getting a repro in the end (mine was 10x worse than yours) and the quality between the two is night and day.. the originals, if salvageable, are worth keeping.

Well alrighty then fix it i will. Thanks to USMCCHEVY for the builld thread link. Printed out the picture and now time to make a patch panel. Called brother but the patch panel is out of stock and they don't plan on getting one in the near future. Guess i have to be sick this week and get over and blast the thing. Thanks to all for the encouragement.

Well after trying to find someone to bend my metal i finally got the patch done. She's getting closer. Now to wrestle with the front brake lines.

Thanks guys. Brothers sells the patch panel, but they said that they are not in stock and it would be a few weeks before they new when they could ship it. What a load. Hardest part was finding someone to bend the metal. Seems like everyone knows a guy who knows a guy who might be able to bend metal. Next time i am just going to buy my own brake then return it cause i don't like the color. However total cost of repair about 50 bucks. Now if someone would come over here and do my brake lines.
