Help with rearend identification
Hi guys, im trying to find out the specs of the 12 bolt rearend i removed from my 67 chevy c10 1/2ton swb. Here what i see on it:
HA 09 01 W (on the pside axle shaft) 3896838 ( on the diff housing) Any ideas what i have or where i can look up these #'s. Thanks, Chris. |

If you remove the rear inspection cover you should have a code stamped on the edge of the ring gear, one is a date code, the other is a tooth count, 1 for the ring and 1 for the pinion, if you divide the 2 numbers, this will give you the rear end ratio.
I cant remember how to read the codes that you found on the axle housing. |

HA is a 3:73.1 ratio . The only way to tell for sure in a forty year old truck is to pull the cover and look. The HA code shows in several yr. model trucks including 1967.

b4 pulling cover have a drain pan also a spray can of brake cleaner , a new gasket and 2quarts of reargear lube
