Tach QuestIons

I have a small Suntach II. It has 4 wires on it: red, green, white, and black. The red goes to the distributer and the black is the ground. What are the other two wires?
Also, when I've hooked up the red and black the engine won't start until I disconnect the tach then it fires right up. i plug in the red again and the engine starts cutting out and stalls.
Can someone explain that one to me?
Thanks,

Re: Tach QuestIons

Black is ground, white is for the light (hook it in with dash lights), RED GOES TO A SWITCHED POWER SOURCE and GREEN GOES TO THE DISTRIBUTOR.

Sorry for the caps, I wasn't "yelling", just making sure to get your attention. Google "Sun Tach Wiring" and you will see the same thing as I just told you.

Thumbs up Re: Tach QuestIons

Well, that is interesting. I haven't used this tach In years and would have sworn the red was the tach wire. The green wire looks like it has never been used.
Thanks for the heads up. I will rewire it today and see what I get.

Re: Tach QuestIons

Tach works like a charm except the back light. But my panel lights aren't working either so I'll check that later.
Thanks for the help,
