2010 Power Tour "Long Haulers"

Sorry if this is a repeat, but honestly I could not find another thread on the subject.

I am planning on making the full tour this year. Leaving FL on 6/2 to be in Newton, IA on 6/4 for the start of the PT on 6/5. Jezebel will not be finished so I am taking the 69 burb. Just installed a 700r in place of the Th-400 in hopes to relieve some of the RPM's on the 396 for the long trip (as well as save a few $$ on gas). Ordered Vintage Air today to replace the old r-12 system. Should have it in and blowing cold before then.

Any others making the trip? I sure would like to meet some of you if you are.

Steve

Re: 2010 Power Tour "Long Haulers"

I wish I was. It's a little too far for me to get there.

I went on power tour in 2002 from Lincoln NE to KC. It was a blast and is definatly on my to do list again. I even got a little 1"x1" photo of my '01 Formula in the mag

I'm doing a "In and Out Rally" this summer. Going from Seattle down to the nearest In and Out Burger in Redding California. It's a 1400 mile trip....Bruiser will be going. I gotta get on my A/C and radio to make the trip enjoyable.

Re: 2010 Power Tour "Long Haulers"

I wish I was, it wouldn't be a bad drive at all for me.

The plan was to load up my truck as well as my buddy's, but still being in college kind of put a hold on that- he couldn't pull the money or time together to get the motor back in his and I ended up needing to take a summer course during the month of June. Oh well, hopefully it all will lead to me graduating one of these days and then I can do all this sort of stuff.

Be sure to take a lot of pictures and post 'em. I went in 2006 right after I graduated high school and had an absolute blast, nothing like being 18 and road tripping with your buddies in a couple loud hot rods .

I'll probably pick it up in TN or Birmingham with my 68, but I haven't decided yet.

Re: 2010 Power Tour "Long Haulers"

I'm gonna hit the Chattanooga cruise night. I don't know if I want to attempt to go to Bowling Green and ride with the tour or just meet at the cruise in at Chatty. I won't be able to take the truck because the wife and kids will be with me. I'll probably drive my dad's 87 Monte Carlo SS.

Re: 2010 Power Tour "Long Haulers"

Was a "Long Hauler" in '08 but won't be able to make it this year. As others have said, it was one of the most rewarding things I've done in the old car, a '78 Malibu. Plus, my mom and dad went in their '71 C-10 and I took my then 5yo son. Now the youngest son is 5, so I'll try to go next year. That will give me reason to try and get the '72 blazer done. Guess I've got a year and a month.

Thank you, LockDoc! That would be a long haul for me before I even got into the "Long Haul" .
I'll give my boy a heads-up. He's down in Mobile.
Thanks again.

Re: 2010 Power Tour "Long Haulers"

Its a little too soon for me. I wanted to go but my truck won't be finished by then and going in the TrailBlazer SS would be too much (except the racing) like just another trip.
I'll have to wait for PT '11.

I'm not doing it but a guy on the turbobuick.com forums asked for "places to get a car towed to just in case" and I volunteered. So if you're on I 65 on the Chattanooga to Birmingham leg and need a place to tow a broke down car/etc I am -very- happy to supply my garage and whatever tools I own.

Just pm me for info (address, phone number), I am about 11 miles from exit 351 in Athens Alabama.

I also homebrew beer so if you just need a rest stop that's cool too

Smoky02, As long as your foot could take it, I'd go anyway. How many chances do you get to participate in something like that?

Well that's the thing, my foot can take it, but I'm deploying soon and I'm wanting to make sure that I'm 100%.
