can a disc setup off a 73-87 work on a 69
hi, i'm curious i have a 69 1/2 ton 4x4 that i want to convert to a front disc i bought a both axles off of a 87 suburban with they work or will the spindles and such swap out to my original axle? any advise on how to or what other parts i will need will be helpfull and can i use my original master cyclinder and port valve? any advice will be much help thanks

Your original axle is probably "closed knuckle" isn't it?
If so, just use the entire housing from the '87. The parts don't interchange between colsed knuckle and open. The master cylinder and proportioning valve should be swapped too. The drum brake system is designed to hold about 10 pounds of pressure in the lines, this will cause disc brakes to "drag" all of the time.

it's got an open knuckle i think 68 has closed like the old toyota. the only prob i see is the way the rear shocks mount the 87 has 1 front and 1 facing back. but if i use the original axles with the disc setup your saying i need the prop valve and mastercyclinder with the boost? ujust to confirm.
