2.5" drop spindles 3/4 Chevy/GMC
Selling these for a friend of mine, they came into the yard last week. They came off of a 1985 Chevy 3/4 ton. Measured against a stock spindle it looks like they would have a 2.5" drop. No idea on the brand, sorry. Comes with or without rotors to save on shipping weight, rotors/bearings/backing plates still on spindles, I can pull the rotors to check the spindles for wear if need be. Looks like just new spindles cost $200 to $250 and up, I'm asking $100 or best offer for both spindles/rotors/backing plates, plus shipping.

Re: 2.5" drop spindles 3/4 Chevy/GMC
As far as I know, the balljoints will be the same, the difference will be in the caliper/rotors. Someone may correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the 3/4 ton and some light duty 1 tons have a caliper held on by two bolts, whereas the dually's will have a wedge-style retainer. I believe you could use the smaller calipers and be fine, as long as you're not planning to work the bags off the truck. If you need more pic's of the brake mounting area, let me know. Thanks.

Re: 2.5" drop spindles 3/4 Chevy/GMC
yellowgt has first dibs, then JEM is up. I'll peel the rotors off when I'm at the yard today and take a couple pics of the spindles. JEM, it looks like shipping would be around $80-100, how does $175 shipped sound? Let me know, I'll give yellowgt a couple days to reply.

what would shipping be to 75040? I will also take a look at the spindles on my dually to make sure the brake set-up will work.

Re: 2.5" drop spindles 3/4 Chevy/GMC
I took 12 pictures today, some of other spindles and some of the bare spindles.....got home now....and none of them work. I hate cameras/computers. Sorry. I'll try again tomorrow.
Anyway, I would give the spindles a 9/10 rating, there is absolutely no wear on either bearing surface on either spindle. There is some light surface rust on the one spindle in between the bearing lands, other than that they are in excellent shape. What I was told for brakes/spindles- 1970-1995 1/2, 3/4 ton and some light-duty 1 ton vans (old body style), 1970-1991 trucks, blazers and burbs (old body style), 1970-1996 forward control all used the same caliper mounting brackets with two bolts, and all control arms and tie rods interchange between spindles. 1970-1976 one ton SRW and DRW used the same setup as above, 76-91 1 ton SRW and DRW trucks/burbs (old body style) and 76-95 vans and forward control used a wedge style retainer. You can use the lighter 3/4 ton stuff on your dually as long as you change rotors/pads. You SHOULD change master/booster, but whatever. ^^^ There are always exceptions to this stuff though!!! Looks to be about the same shipping, $80-100. JEM asked for just bare spindles, I'd do the same price to Texas as California, $175 shipped, NO rotors/bearings/backing plates. Thanks! |

I'm interested. You've got a PM.
I'd pass on the rotors and the spindles would be going to US zip 94404. Last edited by JEM; 05-14-2010 at 03:33 AM. |
