Converting 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

How hard is it to convert a 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton i've got a 70 long box 2wd that has a 250 straight six with a 3 speed floor shift and a body that needs some work.I just bought a 68 3/4 ton with a 305 and automatic tranny and a body that is in better condition. I'd like to put 1/2 ton suspention in the truck so I can lower it easier and have a better selection of wheels to put on it.

IT CAN DEFINATELLY BE DONE. TO ME IT'S EASIER JUST TO SWAP THE SHEETMETAL. YOU PROBABLY WANT TO REPLACE THOSE 40 YEAR OLD CAB & RAD. SUPPORT BUSHINGS ANYWAY. (THIS PROBABLY ALREADY OCCOURED TO YOU.) JOHN

Re: Converting 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

Simple,
I did it, just unbolt and swap change over the rear panhard bar too. Check your drive shaft to make sure the ujoints are the same, should be for both models, unless its a Turbo 400. Make sure you change all the front steering components too. if I am right they are different between the 10/20 series. Keeps the integrity of the system and you dont have to guess on replacement parts.
