Just wanted to introduce myself and my K10

Hi all,
Ive been looking around on the site for a little while and Ive got alot of good info from you guys. Ive been looking for a 80's model square body 4x4 for about two years, but none of them I looked at were ever nice enough for what I was looking for. I have lots of hobbies that take up alot of my time so I was not wanting a "project" truck really because I knew that it would take me years to finish it. I tracked this one down on the internet and flew out to Kentucky to look at it. I knew as soon as I seen it that it was the one for me. It was damn near perfect in every way. Its had a frame off resto and pretty much everything has been replaced/rebuilt. The sheet metal, cab and frame are original, but thats about all other than some small pieces here and there. Its a 1984 SWB K10 4x4 with a 350 and a 700R4. I havent done much to it, other than tint the windows and put a nice stereo in it (it still had the original '84 am/fm in it). Everything works inside and out, all the electrical, cruise control, A/C, and stuff.....even the little quartz clock still works. Its a pretty sweet truck and I feel lucky to own it. Considering what was spent on it, I got a very nice deal on it from the previous owner. Well here are some pics from the day I bought it. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

THanks,
Trevor

Re: Just wanted to say hello and show my K10

Thanks for all the compliments!! I'm not sure about the mileage on the truck. The odometer and the title match up, but I'm pretty sure that the odometer has been replaced. The title and odometer show 66,000 miles, but I doubt that it's accurate. The needle on the speedometer is a brighter colored orange than the other gauges so that makes me think it's been replaced. The truck isn't show ready, but it's not far from it. There is a small pencil eraser size ding in the tailgate just below the release handle. There are a few minor scratches in a couple places, but it's black so it's gonna have a few scratches. I was amazed at how everything on this truck had been replaced/rebuilt. There really isn't anything on the truck that I can find that has not been replaced or rebuilt in some way. It looks like it just came off the dealership floor back in '84.

The truck is a dream to drive. There really isn't much for me to do to it. There is a minor problem with the A/C blowing all the cold air out the bottom floor vents. I got into the dash and found that the two boxes that join together behind the glove box had come apart and the air was just blowing out behind the dash. I stuck them back together but I need a new seal or I need to silicone them together. I'm not sure what these parts are called but it's the A/C ducts in the dash.

I'd like to build a better custom speaker box for my subs so my seat isn't pushed so far forward. I've just got a couple of truck boxes with some kicker comp VR 10's back there and they are too deep at the top and keeps my seat pushed up. I'd like to upgrade the flimsy plastic grill. I'd like to have a set of nice buckets but the bench seat is like brand new and very nice so I really can't justify taking it out until it's worn out or I find someone to sell it to.

You should feel lucky to own it, that truck is real nice. I would probably keep the bench seat to keep it looking original, but hey enjoy it!!

That is my trucks twin!! Mine isn't that clean. Hey what kind of floor mats are those they look like Husky liners? I gotta get some with black carpet it shows everything. Hey I just noticed your right down 35 from me. Sweet truck too!

Re: Just wanted to say hello and show my K10

Thanks again for all the compliments. Yes they are Husky floor liners. They work well, but I really dont like the lip on the side. It catches my feet everytime I go to get in and out of the truck.....its a real PITA. Im prolly gonna get a razor blade and do some trimming on the side so it doesnt stick up so much.

Ive been driving the truck alot more. Ive decided to drive it and enjoy it instead of worrying about it getting dirty or messed up all the time. Im so suprised at how good it drives/handles compared to alot of the square bodies ive drove. I guess a new front end under it really makes alot of difference.
