Question 250 Brake booster vacuum source

I'm finally to the point of hooking everything up to complete my power brake upgrade. So, it appears that I have 2 possible vacuum sources to tap into. One on the outside of the intake that goes to the transmission and one on the inside of the intake that goes to the pcv valve. (There's a third that goes to the vacuum advance, but I know that one isn't a good choice due to the small size of the fittings). Does it make any difference? Also, what kind of T fitting should I use? Thanks guys!

There is a pipe plug on the side of the intake manifold. Pull this plug & put in a fitting for a 3/8 vacuum hose. Hook this to the power brake unit.

Not aware of which vacuum you will need, but would love to see some pics of your setup under the hood. You have added some great pieces to your inline, and would love to see them.

What Wrenchbender said.Come by if you want to look at mine.
BlckButy, his truck is in awesome original condition minus the fatory optiuons he has added.I've ridden in it and it feels like it might be the year 1969.It is clean and rides like it did when it was new.

Re: 250 Brake booster vacuum source

I'll have to post a pic when it's back together. I wanted to replace the lines while I was at it, but they left out one of the front lines when they sent them. I'm hoping to get the missing line and put everything back together next weekend, but I don't know how much time I'll have.

PD, Thanks for the kind words! I can't have an indoor party in the back of mine though.... I might give you a buzz tomorrow afternoon.

Wow.... thanks for the pic of your upgrades.

And... (cough, cough) suspension.

Are you planning on keeping it all stock or lowering it, upgrading wheels?

I wouldn't mind for it to be a little lower, but not a lot. From what I've seen in other posts, going back with stock height springs really elevates it. I'm thinking about 2/4, which probably would look good with stock height tires. I really want to continue running the original hubcaps, so I'm thinking about having some 15x7's made. I might go with 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the back. I've even been looking for some local Rally's to run for a while, but 15x7 6 lugs are hard to find. It's a tough decision.

It's a stock fan clutch that I got from a local yard. I was really after the fan. The clutch felt good, so I decided to use it. I'll measure it again and look for a part number on the fan.

Re: 250 Brake booster vacuum source

Yep check my four blade fan and it's 18 inches.Sorry for going off topic but was fan clutch off a six cyl and sorry to ask but do you know for fact it's a V8 shroud. I ask cause my friends 68 6 cyl auto has a factory fan shroud which I seem to be finding out is rare. I tried the V8 shroud myself and the fan scraped just a slight bit. Never did measure my friends fan blades. Thanks again. Nick

The fan shroud definitely came off of a small block truck with a/c. The fan blades were not mounted when I found them at the yard, but they were from a v8 car with a/c acording to what I find online. I just measured the blades, and they actually measure closer to 17" than 18". That may be the difference.

Re: 250 Brake booster vacuum source

Here's a little more info on the fan blades I'm using:

•The 3947772 fan replaced the 779 fan and had a 2.25" pitch. It was produced by Schwitzer and was used during the remainder of the production year (and through the early 70's) and has the part number and month / year stamped on the fan blades.

This was pulled from the following Camaro site:

http://camaros.org/coolingsystems.shtml

I hope this is helpful.

The clutch fan I installed has the following codes on it:

3947772
914087 H72

I think this was a stock fan on a lot of cars with a/c. Also, while test fitting the fan shroud....I think I recall that my stock 4 blade fan also rubbed. I can take pictures for you if you think it will help.
