6.2 glowplug problem
My glowpugs are acting up. They work fine for the inital start, but if the engine dies, they only come back on for a second then it's hard to start. Even after driving it, if I let it sit for a couple hours they wont come on at all. They only come on when the engine is totally cold. These engines are very hard to start even on a warm day if the glow plugs aren't working.

Re: 6.2 glowplug problem
put a ford starter solenoid in there to replace the glow plug controller and then put a manual switch on it...that's the only solution really to them not coming on when the engine isn't warm enough

Re: 6.2 glowplug problem
the controller is at the back of the intake. there are several wires going to it it is pretty easy to find.
i have my glow plugs set up a littel differently. i have a push button under the dash with wires going to the controller. when i push the botton it energizes the controller. but you really don't need to hold the button for more that 10 seconds at a time. it works great. |

Re: 6.2 glowplug problem
you could do that also...forgot about that...you could wire a switch so it will engage the original controller, that way giving it a jump start when it won't light the glowplugs itself...thanks for clarifying that bigchevyman

Re: 6.2 glowplug problem
Yes, that's how I want to wire mine, where the light on the dash comes on when pushing in on a switch. So do you know what wires to wire the switch to on the controller?
