How much would it cost

How much would it cost to convert a Longhorn to 4x4?
Anyone on the board from AZ, NM, TX, CO do this kind of work?

Re: How much would it cost

i have always whished my truck was a 4x4 and im no expert but did do some research and found unless you have some pretty amazing fab skills it would be alot of time and money. Look up dieselwrencher i believe he did a conversion. I plan to wait untill i can find a 4x4 frame and just swap all my parts over to that.

EDIT ** I found the link to that conversion, pretty cool stuff, http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=372717

Re: How much would it cost

The Longhorn conversions I've seen have done what you recommended and swapped to a 3/4 ton 4x4 frame. They either shortened the box or used a donor box. I was trying to retain the wheelbase if possible.

Also saw the Dieselwrencher thread and wondered how much of the fab was due to the 4x4 conversion and how much was due to the Cummins, or if the combo required more suspension changes.

As far as fab skills and/or lots of money, I may have to listen to Harry Callahan. "A man's got to know his limitations."
